ANCIENT EGYPTIAN RELIGION IN ANCIENT SOURCES (5TH CENTURY BC – 3d CENTURY AD)

One of the most striking examples of religious transformation is Ancient Egyptian religion during the Greco-Roman period of Egyptian history. This civilization, with its society and cultural traditions evolving over more than three thousand years, significantly influenced the formation of key cultural features of Ancient Greek and Roman civilizations.

The main objective of this study is to provide a comprehensive and systematic analysis of the consequences of transformative and diffusion processes in Ancient Egyptian religion under Greco-Roman influence, from 323 BC to the early fourth century AD. In particular, it focuses on identifying and examining semantic distortions and misunderstandings that accompanied the reception of Ancient Egyptian religion by representatives of the Hellenistic world and the Pax Romana.
